Love is in the air !!!

My kinda love has WORDS!!
My kinda love has FLOWERS!!
My kinda love has BIRDS!!
and
My kinda love is PINK :)

Currently I am inspired with words.... and this saying is what I believe in :)
I wonder why LOVE is always pink. Its just so fluffy, gooey and cute that it always has to be pink with flowers and birds right??

Well...for all you paper-cutting lovers I have to admit that I love peeling off the excess paper and the blueprint and revealing the final artwork more than I love cutting it. Its just soooo much fun and satisfying :)

This is my TADAAAA moment  :)

A Flower or Two For Everyone !!

This paper-cut is NOT my original design but I love it none the less. Loved cutting the delicate lines and curves of both the floral patterns.

Opposites usually complement each  other when placed in common surrounding. I played with  black and summer theme printed paper. Cut both with different designs and mounted them on the other. Looks interesting ..doesn't it??

I still have to frame them.... Look how one of the petals of the black flower is cut mid-curve??? happened in one tini-tiny microsecond when my thoughts wandered off in the fairyland of my upcoming paper-cut :)   .... though in my defense it gives character to the entire floral pattern ...doesn't it?

Kisses to all paper-cut lovers... Stay tuned for mypapercloud's  upcoming creation.

CANVAS CUT - AN EXPERIMENT

Its been a long time since I have uploaded my paper-cuts. Have been busy coming up with loads of designs for future paper-cut projects. Meanwhile I bought a canvas for an experiment. Thought cutting a canvas would be fun !!!! WELL........ I am not entirely sure if my thumb and wrist thought it was fun. Still not a failed choice of material I would say. Atleast I get to hang it :) .

For starters I knew since canvas is a fabric material I would have to put in more effort and strength to cut through and that's what exactly happened. I already had a design that fit the canvas size and didn't create a new one since it was a material experiment and my excitement to get on with it wasn't pre -planned .

Cutting the canvas was difficult as I did not have any plane surface to support my wrist. The edges being extruded at the back of the canvas  made cutting it my wrist's worst nightmare. Choosing a very intricate design for a not-so-fine material resulted in the canvas loosing its strength to hold straight. Few modifications in the design ...few more lines connecting the peacock with the rest of the design would solve the problem.

Nevertheless the final outcome is worth hanging on my wall :)

 A Pink background never hurts !!! ;)

My Best Friend's Wedding !!!

So .. my best friend got hitched... in a Grand and the most Elegant wedding I have ever seen and been a part of. From home decor to the mandap, the flowers, mehendi, the cocktail - formal and informal ;)  , haldi , baraat, her makeup, the joda ( designed by the bride)  everything was just perfect.

The day she announced "The Date" I had it all planned. I had to do her wedding invite. But I am no machine :) . We planned everything and brought the number of  handcrafted paper-cut invites to 20....YAYY !!!

So I set off with discussing Do's and Dont's ; Likes and Dislikes with the bride and the mother of the bride... the two most important people in any Indian Wedding ..  oh.. there is the groom as well :) . Anyhow I started sketching and designing with some inspirations and motifs in mind and ended up with 4 designs out of which my 1st design was finalized.
"Ideas out of a fresh mind are always bang on!!"

Yes my work desk was full of paper-bits and cutters and what not for 2 months with glue sticking in the wrong places all the time :)  but I got through.

All cards were individually-very lovingly handcrafted one-at-a time.
The envelopes and final assembling, printing and packaging of all the cards was done by working round the clock by my super duper squad of friends :) .
The wedding was a full friend-love event !!

Peacock along with floral motif was the ideal theme for this project.
The sparkling pink color gave it a modern look.

The Paper-cut part of the card was backed with a translucent golden handmade wooly paper which allowed light to pass through when opened.

* Cuteness Rush on My Paper-Cut Cloud *

Kids can never possibly have enough gifts. There are such cute options everywhere your heart just explodes at the thought of picking the best for the little ones you just love to death :)

My new paper-cut is very close to my heart. It is partially inspired from a design I had seen many years ago. I absolutely adore the idea of framing photographs of kids and since I paper-cut... this project was a MUST on my to-do list.

I played with lots of baby elements while creating this design ..stars, fairies, birds, teddy etc. The concept that I had in my mind was an effect of a shower of stars, happiness, joy, love, kindness, growth, safety and most definitely cuteness on these kids.

I worked my way through this paper-cut leaving the most intricate and difficult work to do at the last :) ... it gives me confidence to cut elements that intimidate me if a major portion of my artwork is successfully complete. The moon ray element and the birth-date were the not-so-easy parts of this cutout.

The revealing of the final art work :) ... very very proud of how it finally looks.

Tadaaaaa.......

I placed the cutest photographs of the kids in the circles and got the artwork framed.
Looks adorable right ??

LOVED IT ??

Crazily Intricate Commission - part 2

Hi everyone !!!
Thanks a ton for such an amazing response to my last blog. It surely feels great to know that the art is being appreciated :)

The second paper-cut that I did was that of Goddess Lakshmi... I have been wanting to share this one for sooo long !!! Its a piece which was not at all easy to cut but altogether huge fun to work on .

The sketch required coins falling from the 'matki' as well as the right palm and carving them out of the same white paper to stand out was difficult. They would merge with the lotus and both the elements would have lost their identity.  The golden paper coins were a last minute add-on which gave life to the entire artwork.
