Shree Ganeshay Namah

A cheerful hello to all my paper cloud lovers. It’s really wonderful and motivating to see all you readers coming back to my papercloud to read the next post and see the new papercuts. Its been quite some time since I have been paper cutting and my love for the craft increases with every design that I cut.
My Papercloud reached 101 likes on facebook this week. So this is My Papercloud thanking all you readers for all the likes, appreciation and the crazy papercut love.

It’s one thing that I absolutely love to cut intricate designs (a fact that I have stated way too many times) but combining two styles of cutting in one single design looks even better. Carving out negative from positive and vice versa in the same design gives due importance to both the design elements.

The color combinations strike me on a very contrast scale... absolutely love yellow with purple and wont you call red and white a classic !!!

Hope these made you fall in love with papercuts all over again.
Keep the papercut love alive.

My Cloud Goes Round!!!

Hello Papercloud lovers.
With this post I bring some more round papercut cards as requested by some readers. The last round papercut I did was red and white...that was just an experiment. I got real good reviews so here is a round intricate design yet again. It took a little more time than usual to cut this one with all the curves.

I cut two layers of paper with one design stencil... white and purple and then mounted them on orange and white round card stock accordingly.
This design is particularly interesting ..the design when folded in half is not symmetrical so it was an added bonus for a freek like me who sticks to things only if they take a really long time to complete. Just kidding , so I thought that a little bling would not do any harm...it just took the papecut cards to a whole new level of beauty.

Enjoy the Bling
Enjoy papercuts

See you soon with another round papercut.

Heaven On Earth !!!

Hello everyone.
Its been a while since I have posted my papercuts..sorry for the delay :)  but I have a perfect reason not to do so.
I swam in the waters of Atlantic Ocean !!! Its was like the perfect paradise...just much much better. The crystal clear cold water, beautiful fishes every where and the never ending blue sky makes the experience unbelievable.
A glimpse of ILHA GRANDE  an island that literally took my breath away.......

So after a great break I started off with the 3rd design of my flower papercuts. Yet again roses :)  you just cant get tired of them.

After a refreshing vacation this papercut rose greeting card came out to be really pretty.. removing the negatives from the design thus revealing the actual roses was the best part in the process.

Hope you all like this papercut as well.... stay tuned for I have some new and interesting papercuts to share :)

PAPERCUT FLOWER LOVE #2

The papercut flowers continue ... this time with a slight twist. Having cut those roses I realised that I had scope of playing with -ve and +ve spaces. So I changed the final look just a little bit.

I cant however decide which one I like the best .. both look pretty.

As mush as I like taking photos of papercuts in progress I also recorded a video :) ...here is how I do it.

So the final cards look like these...

See you all soon .  Stay tuned for more papercut love :)

- Barry A. Lanier

I feel flowers.... as love is in the air :)
The dew drops on the window glass... the serenity of the calm morning... the sweet fragrance of soil after an earth soaking rain.... greens, blues and pinks spread cross the wide sky with clouds touching the earth and red roses all over .. a picture perfect way to say I love you  to the person who means the world to you.

Roses were the perfect way to start my floral papercuts.
Cutting these has been the hardest till now but worth the effort. The fine lines and cuts tell the story of  how delicately these flowers spread their love. I hope this papercut crafted from my heart touches your heart as well.

As much as I love to cut these designs I also absolutely love to photograph the process...To see the design emerge is a totally different and exciting affair.

I mounted these on red and pink cad stocks. These Greeting cards are ready to spread some Rose Love :)

See you soon with more flower papercuts.
Keep coming back for more papercut love.

JAI SREE KRISHNA

OLA # hello in Portuguese # paper lovers... Its 10:30 pm here in Brazil and 7:00 am in India right now. As my sleep has run off to Russia I guess here I am writing this post. This blog isn't suppose to be personal but still all my work is personal.....especially this paper cut of LORD KRISHNA. Though I haven't been into pooja paath, rituals or idol worship and have been away from temple worships for all these years, I have felt a spiritual connect to Krishna since childhood...not with the mythological stories but with the essence and power of his character.

I wanted to have a floating glass frame with a paper cutout of Krishna playing the flute... well the floating glass could not happen but the paper cut did... and not one but 2 designs :)  .

As I have mentioned before the design is drawn on the reverse side to get the perfect and clean final paper cut.

I left the face to be cut at the last as this was the most delicate part of the design.

The 1st final paper cut in a frame.

This 1st design has more visual space to it. In the next one however I tried to do more intricate work.

This design again has the same image of Krishna ( which I took from a calender poster) but has more elaborate and intricate design. I personally like the 1st one but beauty lies in the eyes of the beholder.

The second final paper cut.

HANDS ON COLOUR!!!

I have been working with white paper 120 gsm for all my paper cuts till now. so coloured paper has been on my mind for sometime now. As for the design and motif... well oriental and floral motifs fit the bill as I had blue, green and pink card stock in my hand.

These motifs were hand drawn freestyle and gave me immense scope to work with curves. Sharp edged designs are somewhat easy to cut while curves need to be cut more carefully so as to avoid pulling the already cut thin paper lines. Cutting small circles are the hardest but look really pretty with the entire design.

I did a suggestive cut at the inner side of the card to make it interesting and establish the continuity.

Some more experiments

Hope my designs relate to the readers... please feel free to comment.
Papercut wall art coming up next.. stay tuned :)

INSPIRATION

Only brilliant minds can inspire. Inspiration is the soul of creation. Be it any field cooking, art, science, construction, finance... every initiative and achievement is inspired by something or the other. One such great mind who has inspired many people including me is BĂ©atrice Coron.
http://www.beatricecoron.com/

Inspired by her work and her skill and some of the mughal art that I was browsing through I started off with some intricate designs. I knew these designs wont be easy to cut still tried my level best to cut the curves neatly.. hope you like these. .

Designs inspired by the mughal art turn out to be very intricate and beautiful. Cutting these is nerve wracking but too much fun :)

Another attempt... though not very intricate but still loads of curves to cut.
Please feel free to comment. Another post will be up soon.

Flowers and peacocks!!!

Its an addiction. Paper cutting has been the most satisfying thing I have done in a long time. Creating a design suitable for the art is amazing fun in itself. Its thrilling to have completed a design as the excitement to start cutting takes over your heart.

Creating greeting cards has always been my thing. Cards convey emotions much better than words sometimes. When words are put on paper they exist for ever...and a gift that exists for ever can never lose its beauty.

Peacocks and flowers are by far the most adorable design motifs. I am drawn towards the frilly freedom that an artist gets while drawing a flower and peacocks are just so cute :)  !! These motifs have no boundary or any set rule as to how they should be drawn.

The challenge with creating a design for paper art is judging the thickness of the lines. Too thin and there is a risk of cutting through the entire design.. too thick and the over all look just wont do.

Floral and oriental designs on my mind

For now as I have not experimented a lot with coloured paper... white has to be my paper love colour. Its 120 gsm white card stock that I am currently working with but I plan to go up a notch to experience a new feel and texture.

These are the final cards after mounting the paper cut. For the touch and feel of the paper cut and maintain its identity I applied glue only to the border not letting the actual artwork stick to the coloured card.
Stay tuned for more designs and cuts :)
