My knife shouts keep cutting PAPER!!!

Hello readers.... its been quite some time since I have blogged my papercuts.. its been a crazy time. Shifting back to my motherland - Indian from the Samba land - Brazil and then again to the Snow land USA. 

 My mind is going crazy and my hands are literally freezing as I start to write.. side effects of not being able to do so for such a long time I guess. There's soooo much to share with you... btw did some good papercuts..will share one by one :) .... hang on!!!

The Frozen Land of USA 

Lets start with my favorite one....  

My 1st custom paper-cutting project ....YAYYYY!!! :)

I made some good friends in Brazil and one of them asked me to do two A4 size paper-cuts.

One of goddess Durga and the other of Goddess Lakshmi.

At first I was really scared as I realized these are NOT GOING TO BE EASY..... they are goddesses... really really intricate and detailed figures... but then that's my thing u know !!!  :) :) 

So I started off with some inspiration.. gathering wall papers , paintings, sketches and whatnot. These pictures looked so beautiful and the design so complicated that automatically I was sure I had to do this.... It would be so much fun...

 So I sketched out my final design on a sheet of tracing paper placed it over a white artist quality 120 gsm paper and began with the papercut .

I started with the element that intimidated me the most..... The Tiger. Well Goddess Durga is mostly seen on a Lion but I was specifically asked to include a Tiger instead.

 In any process of creating an artwork that involves a creature what I understand is that eyes are the most difficult part. Eyes are the soul of that piece... they convey the emotion and the existence of life in that artwork. 

So I started cutting the bottom part of the tiger just to get my hands flowing and then got on to cut the eyes of the Tiger with all the Patience I could gather. Came out all sparkling, didn't they??
 I moved on with more confidence once the eyes were done.

I had to be really careful while working as the connecting areas were very delicate.  I worked on the inside lines 1st as I carved the design out , leaving the outlines intact to hold the design together till the end of the process.

It worked !!!
If u do it bit by bit...... It Works :) 

The last step to my work was to cut all the outlines and give the piece its personality.. a definition.

A cheerful hello to all my paper cloud lovers. It’s really wonderful and motivating to see all you readers coming back to my papercloud to read the next post and see the new papercuts. Its been quite some time since I have been paper cutting and my love for the craft increases with every design that I cut.

My Papercloud reached 101 likes on facebook this week. So this is My Papercloud thanking all you readers for all the likes, appreciation and the crazy papercut love.

It’s one thing that I absolutely love to cut intricate designs (a fact that I have stated way too many times) but combining two styles of cutting in one single design looks even better. Carving out negative from positive and vice versa in the same design gives due importance to both the design elements.

The color combinations strike me on a very contrast scale... absolutely love yellow with purple and wont you call red and white a classic !!!

 

Hope these made you fall in love with papercuts all over again.
